Zombie Eyes Hacked
Edgardo May 29, 2013

I wasn’t born with brown eyes
Or black eyes, or red, or yellow
I came into the world connected to all colors
didn’t know it…
Just recently grew into it

That connection I didn’t know I had
All along it was at my very core
And what I thought I knew
I didn’t know at all
It was just what everyone said

Blue eyes see the world
Brown, red, black and white do as well
But every color lets in just its fraction of allotted light…
This is the secret behind all those

Both worried and euphoric:

The demons of the day…the angels of the night
It’s all just so much reflected glory
And shame
Much more, and much less

You who were laid upon the  anvil where upon
Was beaten out your fate
Your molten shapes were formed into doctors
lawyers, fruit pickers, or maids
House servants, or field hands
Masters and other slaves.

Did you know that the hammer was at all times
In your hand?

Come down now from the hills
The backwoods and the black lung mines
From the stagnant strictures of the past
From barrios and ghettos, dungeons gathered in time

For the zombie world shambles on
With a human’s future clutched tight
Only the past, and what will never be
Is left in what was it’s mind

Come down from the shame
From the shameful pride
Futures all contain a past

A new future will contain it’s own
Home grown
