Wage Theft Forum in El Paso

Readers in the El Paso area might be interested in checking out an upcoming forum on the persistent problem of wage theft. Sponsored by El Paso’s Social Justice Education Forums, the event is scheduled to take place on Saturday morning, June 6. Speakers will include Lily Limon, District 7 City Council Rep, and Eric Murillo, community organizer for National Nurses United.

According to event organizers:

“El Paso has long been known as a ‘low wage town,’ and legions of workers for generations have been victimized by wage theft. The system needs to change. Working families cannot progress without access to good paying jobs and without appropriate government protections against predatory and exploitative employers. Learn more anout the conditions in our community that sustain this unfavorable situation and how citizens can become involved in the effort to bring about change.”

The June 6 forum will be held at Centro de Salud Familiar La Fe, Culture and Technology Center, 721 S. Ochoa, at the rear entrance through Sixth Street, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 am.
