The Moth is an organization dedicated to the art of storytelling. It is audio and video of novice storytellers living ordinary lives and experiencing something extraordinary. The directors at The Moth work with each storyteller to help with the presentation. The Moth began in 1997 by George Dawes Green, a poet and best-selling novelist from Georgia. Living in New York, he wanted to provide a place to share spellbinding tales. The first New York Moth event was held in George’s living room, but word spread fast, and the events moved to various locations throughout the city. “Audiences are drawn to the stories, like moths to a flame.”
Since its conception, The Moth has presented thousands of stories, told live and without notes, to standing-room-only audiences around the globe.
