We meet the first Saturday of the month at the Junction Cafe in Pharr. The purpose of the group is to provide a place for writers to gather and discuss informally, poems, what makes a “good” or “great” poem by bringing favorite poems or writers’ own work for feedback. The discussions are primary, and learning from each other about individual writing processes, struggles, marketing ideas, etc. -

Thousands of art enthusiasts come from the entire region to McAllen’s arts district for First Friday Artwalks. Since it started six years ago, it has quickly become one of the city’s biggest events. The event runs every first Friday of the month from September through May. It's completely free and everyone is welcome to go and enjoy the food, wine and music.
