Within a minute,
He, in health, comes through with his friend,
Going in they are for a 12-pack.
The friend’s heart is shaky,
Lip cancer scars his mouth.
A woman comes out.
Exercise tights, sweat drops,
Healthy greens, soy mild, dark bread.
A son and dad come out,
They kid me for going to sleep early.
The dad says,
“You might have stayed up all night.
“You can’t do that anymore, or a lot of other things.”
I laugh, and admit, not painfully,
The friends are still in check-out.
The exerciser has started her SUV.
The father and son near their pickup.
