Winner of the Byliner’s February Writer’s Challenge is Rudy H. Garcia, a teacher in the Port Isabel school system. Here is his winning entry:
Your Love
I do not love you as others love theirs
I love you always and genuinely true
And though some may say, my way of loving
Is considered old and perhaps even out of date
I say to them… listen carefully, and in earnest.
The wind I say, is older still
Much, much, older still… and yet…
It still persists, it still continues blowing true!
I do not love you as others say they love
I love you around the clock and even in my dreams
And though the fad of passing time, is to disguise one`s lust as love
I say to them… be silent and reflective for a moment
Tonight the stars shall sing with light!
Than wait for morrow till dawn renewed
And soon thereafter the ancient sun shall reappear
To warm the heart and spirit too
To radiate Gods` love for you
I do not love you as others think they love
I love you with my all breath and my cosmic universal mind
And too with every tiny grain of clay that molded me!
And though some may say that I a silly dreamer be
I say to them… for that, be certain, yes, rest assure…
And with a flawless guarantee!
That just as sure as the river flows, cutting into the living earth
Your love carves deep in me.
