I too have placed life on the shelf

Content to watch and wait and when

The waiting and the watching, the debating

Became too much

Let rip a snide aside

Or sarcasm soaked snipe

Damn fool love almost killed me

I would not let go the reins

And that crazy bitch

Through desert, dirt, shard and stone

Drug me along till most traces of life

Infested with the toxin of love

Were gone

I constructed a shell

Then threw it into the hell called alone…

The fit felt so right

I thought I had found a home

And Mexicans and coyotes howled and yipped

Business went on at it’s usual clip

Schemers small and large

Took their respective dips

And they left me more or less

Then just more and more alone

Nothing to lose when you never place a bet

Nothing to gain and

Still nothing yet

Baby, I’m missing my home

But where could that be?

This could be all for me

This could be all for me

Meantime there’s pills and some liquid numbing

That kill the pain and leave you humming:

This could be all for me

This could be all for me

I have faith the great re-set

Is set to restart me into more eternity

Or just some more kind of mess

But if we should meet

On the other side of the street

I don’t think I’ll make the same mistake twice
