Nuevo Progreso Report in March 2010

In spite of all the bad press…. The blogger reports from locals on the scene in Valle Heromosa, Reynosa, and Matamoros, the unconfirmed reports of local police being mutilated and lynched and hung from traffic lights in Valle Hermosa, and the gun and grenade battles in Reynosa, Winter Texan Season was in full swing in Nuevo Progreso.

There were happy snow birds by the hundreds, if not thousands crowding the bars and restaurants. I have seen it much busier in the past, but considering everything that’s been going down, the thing was humping and bumping or maybe pumping. Speaking of which, there is an “adult” nightclub that’s been up for about a year. When it first opened it was spring time, a very quiet time in NP. Also the new passport requirements had just been imposed and lots of people didn’t have one.A lone “hookman” or club promoter approached me on the bridge, told me all about the girls and the wonderful services at Koko Bombos. He had plenty of time, we were the only two people on the bridge. I think Koko Bombos translates to “pumping coconuts” but I’m not sure.

I’m not able to give any first hand reports on the club as it opened at 3pm and I was there in the morning. When clubbing in Mexico there are two groups to watch out for: The criminals and the cops. It goes without saying that girls are always trouble too. It’s about the same on the north side of the Rio Bravo as well. But it’s different; in some ways better and in some ways worse. The chaos is more organized here in the U.S but in Mexico the organization is much more chaotic. That’s a whole column by itself

Sitting at a sidewalk café, watching the street life only a quarter of a mile or so away south from the “Land of the Free”, I could look into the heart of Mexico. So many vendors and small commerciantes, as well as beggars, and just plain folk had transitioned from the interior to the frontier. This was as far as most would get. As I sat I pondered the possibility that the new Mexican Revolution might coincide with the second American Revolution. Socialism, fascism, globalism, in variegated re-combinations with a scientific technological control grid overlay was now lusting for a totality of power only imagined at by previous cabals and plutocracies. Would onrushing poverty and misery initiate a backlash from people that just can’t take it anymore

Well, we shall see

All for now

More for later
