Night of deep rolling thunder
Webs of lightning, jaggedly aware
Fill one eye fully to overflowing
…My other only stares

A woman closer to me than me to myself and
And so in fear for our lives that
She kisses me so sweet and dearly
I swear to her we will survive

But no one ever knows for how long

A holograph screams like drive-in horror scenes
To the night of its pain
And the screen glows
lit by sweet angel fire
But what the credits say

No way I can tell and
The prophets as per usual
Can’t find the page…

And most don’t even know they care

Now time has taken back it’s own
To the century before when the talkies played
In the darkness of a dream
And in the darkness over the plain
I sit in the red copper dirt
That contains, sustains
Every humble life and thought

And a woman weeps because
Not she, nor I
Can leave or
Can stay

The webs of lightning
So jaggedly aware
In the night of the deep rolling dream
In the night of the deep rolling dream
