Exciting news I want to share and offer you a chance to participate as well. On October 12, 13, 14,and 15 the Mexican Consulate is having their inaugural Border Book Fair promoting literacy and literary arts along the border. The time is 9 to 6 at the Mexican Consulate in the ITEC Center (old Alamo Mall), Brownsville. There is no cost to participate.
Paragraphs will have a booth everyday at the event and have been told to invite authors to attend and sign books at our table. If you would like to have a reading and/or presentation of your book that will be possible too. You will have to get in touch with the consulate to arrange the times. Names, emails, phone numbers of the organizers is coming and as soon as I get them you will be notified.
The mornings will be children oriented then open theme in the afternoons. They are hoping for a variety of authors and books. The Gorgas Science Foundation will be present with their “El Valle” book and the people at UTB are contacting their professors to be there and possible present their works. So you can see that this book fair is designed for all types of books and writers.
Many writers from Mexico have been invited to attend a list of participates will be sent when I find out.
For the poets out there, Friday and Saturday will be a poet congress held in conjunction with the book fair. Details are forth coming.
We will do the selling, so all you will have to do is sign and chat. If you have your own copies, bring them along and we will pay you that day or let us know if you are going to participate and we will order enough for the fair. There is plenty of time but let me know if you are interested so I can help make plans and set times for signings. You are welcome to stay as long as you want and attend as many days too. Just so we are somewhat organized I would like to have an idea when and how long you want to stay. A schedule of events will be sent so you would be able to work your signings around other things you might want to see.
