Love Will Always Wait

close your eyes and let me take you there
just me and you darling forever, you can
torment me because its you that I want to be with
through this trying life there’s
nothing you can do that will hurt more than a bullet to my crooked smile
so,torment me,hate me,love and then leave me
I will wait for your luck to run out
I will wait for your beauty to fade
I will take you back
wrinkled hands and lonely eyes shattered
heart and tattooed tears…bring it all
I will be here waiting
I will collect broken hearts along the way and refurbish them
and fix you when you return
I will memorize each sunset and moonlit night
I will learn every love song and catch every shooting star
and when you return there at your feet they will lie
looking up at you, waiting for you to say I’m not done — like always
I will tie those treasures to your heels so that
you can carry them with you like a string of cans on a “just married” car
I will go back into my dark room, add blood to my tears and write the
most perfect love letter in hopes you will read it in the obituary the next morning
