If we threw them in a ring together

Before the Alamo, stuck
Gloves on them to duke it out
For the North American title of
El Rey, the King…
If we filled that courtyard
With their most ardent fans,
Old geezers, and gammies,
Anglo and Latino,
Would bedlam break out,
A reenactment of Goliad and San Jacinto?…
If we did all that crazy crap,
Would it be war again,
Or would the maestros pick up
Guitar and fiddle to play
Mariachi with a Texas twang,
Get the folks dancing and
Burying the hatchet
At last?…
