Kelly Fearing, who taught generations of artists at the University of Texas for four decades, died at his home March 13. The artist moved to Ft. Worth in 1943 to work as a graphic artist for a company that built bombers. Fearing soon joined up with a group of artists known as the Ft. Worth Circle. This group of artists rejected traditionalism and found inspiration in European like Picasso and Miro who embraced abstraction and the metaphysical interpretation of the world. Fearing’s abstract and surrealistic work from the Ft. Worth years became his signature style over the decades.
