labrynthsofLove250“I want to make love with you.”

Doesn’t happen.

Dawn’s white light in the east.

The last night bird’s flutter.

Coffee’s heat.

No love.

But pause.

The idea, the desire,

As deep as the continuing hours.

She’s not the first.

Green meteors streak over waves.

We talk love.

Doesn’t happen.

However, the idea – a sweet decade.

A run to a moving bus.

“We missed love!”

She yells.

The bus leaves.

The love, more than twenty years.

The best love, not to be.

“I’ll send the book back.”

She smiles.

The book doesn’t return.

Her eyes looked love,

Aimed at me,

Over a bored boyfriend.

I carry her, incomplete,

Now permanent,

Like a whiff of smoke

Bringing boiling sap back ….
