Hired gun, hired gun

You’ve got us on the run

Hired gun, hired gun

You’ve got us on the run

Murder with pen or computer stroke

Kill with words, make the victim out a joke

Slander them with a wicked tongue

Hired gun have your fun

Hired gun, hired gun

You think you got us on the run

Hired gun, hired gun

You think you  got us on the run

Thought you’d plug some Kennedy’s

And Martin Luther too

Throw Malcolm X into the plan

Once he started to understand

John Lennon stood for life and peace and love

Saw war for the racket that it was

With what you knew about why and how

Where the bones were buried and who did what

Do you really think they’ll leave you alive

When it’s all said and done, well do you

Hired Gun?

The Justice of this world can be an iffy one

Sometimes the hammer comes down on just the right one

Sometimes the sword of justice falls astray

But a higher court awaits and will seal your fate

Thirty pieces of silver or all the wealth the world holds

Can never be near enough to buy even one mans soul

So farewell is too good a word, and good-bye a positive one

So lets just say it’s the end

Hired Gun
