“Harsh”

We are discussing Austria – 1938.

The Nazis, easily, took over.

Millions of Austrians stayed.

Thousands left.

I speak of resistance:

Fighting or passive.

She ends the conversation:

“You don’t know that survival is all that matters.

“You want heroes,

“But again, it’s survival.”
