Pictures in books and magazines,
In color, in black and white.
In Texas brush:
Dust thick, wind warm, earth cracked,
The lone tree – to the side of the pick-ups racing on the straight road -
Twists, thins,
Leaves a moldy white and brown.
The tree gasps -
Living desertification, dessication ….
