These days Dean Young is a poet who teaches at the University of Texas, his newest book of poems, Fall Higher, was released this month and he is on the waiting list for a heart transplant. I read this story in the Austin Chronicle by Amy Smith and felt compelled to share this with our readers here at Writers. The link to the story is below but, before that, I’d like to pass on the link here that is at the end of the article. Heart transplants are not cheap and, to help raise money to pay for transplant-related expenses, a reading and reception/fundraiser for Dean Young was held Friday, April 8, 6pm, at the Austin Museum of Art. Online donations can be made at www.transplants.org/donate/deanyoung.

I’me going to look this guy up. he better have some good poems after that big build up!
