Belly of the Beast

Belly of the Beast

Time has invaded the parts that once were alive
And cruelly left just enough that I can not die
A fortune of pain returns not one cent of peace
Here in the belly of the beast

The love of my love life was the first one gone
My friends are there now or are heading underground
A castle of dreams is crumbling down
I have nothing to offer now but me
No pretty woman will ever come my way again
What do you think she’ll say when I say “Pretty Baby Please?”
Come build your nest of love with me
In the belly of the beast

Living to fight for a victory that will never be
Learning yearning burning for release
Groping at heaven while being dragged across the ground
All the while knowing that whatever becomes of me
I don’t want to end up like him and her or them
Alive still but only just so
Grumbling in the belly of the beast

Hunched before a screen…clicking life away
Dragging every tomorrows into the abyss of yesterday
Life used to be so easy, only a game to play
But now the time has come to pay
For all the coin of love thrown away
And there is no tender legal minted golden piece
To gain now release
From the awful greed and infinite need
That hungers in the belly of the beast

Once the wild dogs called men tried to kill me
I thought I would turn the tables if you please
At least I’m still alive but it’s been an all reorganized
Criminals are victims, victim criminal, Court a circus of fools and greed
The horror seems more slimy as they tear at me piece from legal piece
Justice can be the worst of crimes
When the black robe hides the belly of the beast

Come one and all, all angry boys
All the girls so blissfully, wistfully deceived
Flora, fauna, predator and young prey
There’s still escape from the maws that reach
To tear and grind limb from limb from each
To leach fresh gristle into the entrails of the killer’s king
The vile black belly of the beast

Listen to the song while you have the chance
What the heart can know the soul must understand
You will awake one morning shattered in every dream
Stillborn to the lifestyle of living death
And no one can hear the silent scream
Strangling in the belly of the beast

They tell me that the universe throws nothing away
Everything and one gets replayed
Don’t take it all so serious, babies if you please
Diamond making takes some time
What is precious waits its turn to shine
As a loving voice commands release
From the temporary holding tank we all thought indeed
Was the bitter end in the Belly of the Beast?

Everyone that ever won Heaven’s peace
Has done their crime been purified in time within
The awful belly of the beast

You can win the embrace of heavenly peace from the belly of the beast?
