Alive

White flashes from gray clouds,
Shots through green leaves, brown limbs.

Gulf storm, river storm lightning.

Black-trunked trees,
Their V’s, silent sling-shots ….

Then, rain on cracked earth,
Rain on street-light-lit asphalt ….

A man stares at the
Microwave’s blue, time winding.

“Time in a bottle,” plays ….

A family shatters on the Upper Great Plains ….

Northern white light boxes ….
