Scheduled for September 24 – 26, 2009, the celebration of the 2.6 mile bridge is also about the friendship and comradery between the two communities. Festivities kick off in Port Isabel on Thursday, September 24th at 7pm. The Museums of Port Isabel will host their monthly “Telling Our Stories” oral history program featuring speakers Steve Hathcock, South Padre Island and Rod Bates, Port Isabel. The evening’s presentation is dedicated to the survivors and victims of the 2001 Queen Isabella Causeway collapse.
