In the customs line returning from NP. Talked with guy from Austin. He was down for a few days. Worked in contracting, mostly for schools. Needless to say he was unemployed.
Sometimes you see the CBP and Ice walking around with their automatic rifles, but not too often. What do they know that we don’t? A lot, I’m sure.
I have noticed that the customs personnel seem to be getting more and more cranky. It can’t be pms because the guys seem to be the worse ones. Perhaps they’ve forgotten who they are supposed to work for.
I also noticed a large pick up truck a Ford F550 with a good sized enclosed container on it. In little tiny-weeny letters, there was a radiation symbol on the side and another symbol that I couldn’t make out. Anyway it was going up slowly along a line of waiting cars, then backing up slowly. I could hear the OSHA mandated back-up warning beeps as the scanner truck reversed. It seems logical to believer that it was scanning the cars for contraband. To look through the metal, steel and plastic of a car you need a lot of radiation. The thing was there were people in those vehicles. The customs agents were right behind. Another reason not to drive across the border.
Observation: Many people commute daily across the bridge. The officials that work at customs are getting, if not direct, then back-splatter radiation.
Some one should say something.
